About the Art: Superior Edition
About the Artist:
Gerald Coulson was born in Warwickshire and does not come from a particularly artistic family. He has never taken a formal art lesson in his life but, over the years, has established an enormous reputation as an artist of style and skill.
As a child, his first interest was in aircraft rather than art and, after leaving school, he began a career in the aircraft industry as an apprentice aircraft engineer. He then served eight years in the Royal Air Force, after which his combined knowledge of aircraft and his ability to draw persuaded him to take up a career in technical illustration. From this background he developed his painting technique without any formal training.
Gerald Coulson began a full time career as a painter in 1969 and has subsequently built a remarkable reputation as one of the world’s greatest painters of aircraft, landscape and motor-racing scenes. His work is sold throughout the world.
