About the Artist:

Karl Maria Schuster was born 13th September 1871 in Purkersdorf and died on 15th June 1953 in Vienna, he was an Austrian painter who specialised in portrait, genre and interior.
He was a son of a railway official and painter. His younger brother Josef Schuster was also a painter.
He studied from 1887-1896 at the Vienna Akadademie of Fine Arts. In 1902 he became a member of the Association of Visual Artists Vienna (Künstlerhaus). During World War I he worked as a war artist.
