About the Artist:
Mihata Joryu was a Japanese-style painter who flourished between 1830 and 1843.
He was born and lived in Kyoto and studied Shijo painting under Okamoto Toyohiko. Joryu specialised in genre painting and bijinga, a Japanese style of painting.
During his lifetime Joryu became very well known for his marvellous and delicately painted images.
