About the Artist:
Adolphe Schroedter was born in Schwedt in Germany in 1805.
He was educated in Berlin and Dusseldorf and was elected a Member of the Academy in Berlin in 1835. He became known as a painter of genre scenes, vignettes and various diverse illustrations, and his work is now held in major museums and cities around Europe, including those in Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
Adolphe Schroedter, often also known as Adolf Chrodter or Schrodter, died in Carlsruhe in December 1875.
