About the Art: • Thom loved Paris. The city life, the street food and the people intrigued and inspired him and his paintings. • Thom painted many Paris city scenes in his traditional style, Plein Air and under his pseudonym, Robert Girrard. These titles include Paris, Eiffel Tower; Paris, City of Lights; Evening on the Seine; Notre Dame, Paris and Montmartre among others. • Thom can be seen on the left side of the painting along the Seine. This is the same spot where he painted during his visit to Paris with his father and brother, Patrick. • Their visit to Paris was part of European trip where Thom and Pat retraced the route of their father's World War II experiences. • 20 hearts are hidden in the painting representing the 20 arrondissements (administrative districts).
