About the Artist: When Sandra Kuck burst onto the scene in the mid-1980s, romanticism was just beginning to attract collectors. Today, romanticism enjoys unprecedented popularity and so does the artist who helped bring it into the spotlight. Ms. Kuck paints the world the way we would like it to be: a beautiful place, where mothers are eternally young and pretty, where children are sweeet and innocent and where there is time to read a book, enjoy a leisurely walk or simply daydream a sunny afternoon away. Her art is like a refuge for collectors, a place they can escape to when pressure and the pace of modern-day living needs to be relieved. Admirers of Sandra Kuck know that this talented artist puts a little of herself into every painting. Her strong sense of family and appreciation for beauty is echoed in all of her works, with which she has captured a loyal and appreciative audience. Sandra describes herself as a ?romantic realist.? Her nostalgic settings and angelic children evoke memories and emotions of childhood. With vibrant color, delicate lighting, and exquisite lace and lowers, Sandra creates a romantic and peaceful atmosphere, capturing the beauty and simplicity of days gone by. Sandra finds her inspiration from many different sources, including the special relationship between mother and child, the beauty of a country garden, or the fine furnishings and the clothing of the Victorian era. Her pursuit of perfection, exacting standards, and attention to detail allows her to paint only eight to ten pieces per year. It is this ability to create flawless scenes of serenity, joy, and elegance that has made her one of the most beloved artists in North America. As a child in Ohio and Southern California, Sandra always loved to doodle and sketch. It was during her education at UCLA and The Art Student?s League in New York that she realized her love for painting children and deviated from her professors? emphasis on modern art. Later, it was her husband, John, who encouraged Sandra to pursue her dream of becoming a successful artist. Though they quickly started a family, John cared for the couple?s young children on weekends, so that Sandra could have an opportunity to develop her artistic talents. Once the children started school, Sandra was able to devote more time to her art, while John sold her works to local galleries. Their confidence in her special talents would eventually find embodiment in the collecting public. Thanks to a steadily growing fan base, it was in 1983 that Sandra?s artwork received national recognition. That year she was honored with the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers? (NALED) Plate of the Year, Print of the Year, and Artist of the Year awards. Since 1983, she has been honored each year with awards from NALED, including an unprecedented six-time honor as Artist of the Year. Although she enjoys acclaim, she treasures her time at home in her studio. A modest person, she is still easily embarrassed by praise from her faithful collectors. Sandra has responded to the overwhelming demand of her fans by extending her range of products. She has designed a collection of figurines for Lenox and is currently creating ornaments for Bradford Exchange. V.F. Fine Arts has introduced a new line of limited edition Geclees, which closely resemble her original paintings. Her work can also be found in AMCAL?s line of fine gift stationery items, as well as designs for the Geneva Watch Group and Reader's Digest. SANDRA KUCK BIOGRAPHY Dedication and perseverance have taken Sandra to great heights of success. In addition to her prestigious standing in the collectible community, Sandra was recently commissioned by the Florida Seminole Indian Tribe for a six-foot by nine-foot mural of their children. With such a busy schedule, Sandra still finds time to enjoy her three grandchildren and her home on a lake in South Florida.
