About the Art: All along the back roads of Mexico and central America, you will find great little houses like this. While I enjoy painting ornate churches and busy street scenes, my favorite subjects tend to be simple. A few rooms with a roof over your head, transportation at hand and food on the table. Don't well all somehow dream of getting back to a life like that? As I was working on the piece, I began humming an old song that Gene Autry recorded in 1939: "South of the Border, Down Mexico Way".
