About the Artist:
Loiseau was born in Paris and was apprentice in 1880 to a house painter and then to a decorator, a job which he despised but which aroused his interest in art. His parents retired to Pontoise in 1881 and he was left a substantial legacy by his grandmother in 1887 allowing him to devote his life to landscape painting. He lived in Montmartre until 1890 when he moved to Pont-Aven and returned to Paris in 1891, but made many subsequent trips throughout France and his work is in the collection of many famous museums throughout the World.
