About the Art: Superior Edition
About the Artist:
Cecil Rochfort D’oyly-John was a British artist born in 1906. He is thought to be the son of Welsh painter Augustus John, however little is known about his early life. Before following a creative path, D’oyly-John pursued various jobs in different countries, including working for the police force.
In the years that followed World War Two, D’oyly-John found great success as a landscape painter. His technique of using a palette knife was influenced by artwork he saw during his travels.
The sun-drenched destinations of his Mediterranean paintings include France and Italy; his skill of beautifully capturing light and shadow is clear in each and every piece.
