About the Artist:
Charles Marion Russell was an American artist born in 1864. At a young age, Russell moved to Montana to become a working cowboy. Alongside this, he kept sketchbooks of paintings and drawings.
Following his retirement, Russell began painting full-time. His wife, Nancy, became his manager and helped him gain international publicity and success. Known as ‘The Cowboy Artist’, Russell remains a key artist, author and storyteller of the Old American West.
His body of work exceeds 2000 paintings, depicting Wild West scenes in the style of romanticism. Today, major collections of his work can be found in museums across the United States, notably in Montana and Texas.
