About the Artist:
Leon Danchin, 1887-1938 was a French artist known for his drawings of animals and primarily sporting dogs. He was also a very talented sculptor. Danchin was born in Northern France, but after his marriage in 1919 he moved his family to Chantilly which is close to Paris and later moved to Bergues in the French Flanders where he was able to hunt regularly and it was during this period that he drew many of the hunting scenes with dogs for which he is renowned.
