About the Artist:
Spencer Frederick Gore was a British painter of landscapes and interiors during the early 20th century. He was born in 1878 and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. He then spent time in Paris and Dieppe where he became familiar with the Post- Impressionist works of Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. Gore returned to London and became one of the leading figures of the Camden Town Group and the London Group, but died young, of pneumonia, in 1914.
