About the Artist:
Breon O’Casey was born on April 30th in London in 1928.
Breon O’Casey was one of the last British artists to be connected with the 1950’s Modernist movement in St Ives. He studied at the Anglo-French Art Centre and, subsequently, became an Assistant to both Denis Mitchell and Dame Barbara Hepworth. He is closely linked with the School of St Ives through his friendship with the leading artists who were his contemporaries. He lived and worked in Cornwall.
His work has been the feature of numerous articles for prestigious publications, ranging from Country Living to The Sunday Times Magazine. He also illustrated a number of noted books and exhibited at over 50 shows around the world, ranging from prestigious London galleries to Tate Gallery St Ives and his work has been shown frequently in both Ireland and America.
Breon O’Casey’s work is held in public collections ranging from The Art Council of Great Britain to The Tate Gallery.
Breon O’Casey died aged 83 on May 22nd 2011.
