About the Artist:
She was born Helene Henriette De Ligne at The Hague, Netherlands on 9th June 1917, daughter of Prince Albert de Ligne and of his wife, Marie Louise Calley Saint-Paul de Sincay. In 1948 she married Peter Whitwell and had one daughter, Alexandra Marie Louise.
Mrs Peter Whitwell, Princess Helene de Ligne, died at the age of 87 in Uccle, Belgium on 2nd December 2004.
Little else is known of Helene Whitwell’s personal life.
