The first trading of corporate securities in America took place in 1792 at the southern tip of Manhattan Island under a buttonwood tree. The transaction became known as the Buttonwood Agreement. Today the world's foremost securities marketplace and the symbol of American financial strength is the New York Stock Exchange.
Neiman's New York Stock Exchange portrays the façade of this renowned 1903 neo- classical building. In front of this icon of strength and stability two American flags signify the vital role of finance in the nation. The street bustles with limousines, taxis, bicycle messengers, traders and tourists. We observe the scene from the Federal Building porch, with the statue of George Washington facing the exchange from the very spot where he delivered his inaugural address. The presence of the Father of our Country looms powerfully over the scene like a guardian angel overseeing the continued success of his great project.
The New York Stock Exchange is the crowning glory of LeRoy Neiman's stock market serigraphs, which include: American Stock Exchange, Stock Market, London Stock Exchange, Paris Bourse, Chicago Board of Trade and Chicago Options.
