From the Artist: A few years ago I painted all of the animals getting off Noah’s Ark and enjoying the dry land. I was and still am really proud of that first attempt, but it had a list of things that I wanted to capture better when I did another Noah’s Ark painting. In this prequel, I decided to have all the animals leaving their homes and obeying God’s command to go two by two into the Ark. With storm clouds beginning to obscure the sun, and the coming storm in the left of the painting, I attempted to capture the drama of those fleeting moments when all nature knew that it was time to get inside the safe place God designed before the massive flood and the destruction of life as they knew it. With one little stop at a small pond, they catch their reflections and take a drink. It will be the last time they will be on dry land for a long time. The next time they set foot back on the solid ground, the world would be different and they will begin to fill the earth again with life. -A. Hunter
