About the Artist:
In 1891, Frederic Whitaker was born in Providence, Rhode Island to English immigrant parents. Frederic had many different careers throughout his life, yet he didnęt pursue painting until after his retirement.
Whitaker founded Audubon Artists Incorporate in 1943 and the Council of American Artist Societies in 1961. He also served as the American Watercolor Societyęs president for seven years. Fredericęs paintings are represented in thirty-two museums including the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art. Whitakeręs artwork has won over 150 exhibition prizes, and he has also been awarded service medals for the arts. For his dedication to the cause of watercolor and watercolor painters, he is often warmly referred as –Mr. Watercolor.” Frederic Whitaker passed away in 1980.
