By showing us how energy and matter are inextricably connected (E=mc2), he opened up whole new worlds of knowledge about light and about relationships between time and space. Although he started with pre-conceived ideas about how things worked, Einstein was willing to open his mind, even if his discoveries led him to uncomfortable possibilities.
"I try to do the same thing with my work. I always start out with a concept, but, as the design takes shape in my hands, I am often led in a totally different direction. That can feel uncomfortable, but as long as I keep my mind open to possibilities, the finished work often evolves into something much better than my original concept." -Mark Hopkins.
