About the Art: On the Alaskan Kenai peninsula, this female is enjoying the last spatters of sunlight in front of her den before the cool of dusk settles in. Her pups are asleep inside the den and she listens for sounds of the pack returning from their hunting expedition. Unfortunately, the wolf is very likely at the dusk of its existence. Unlike the coyote, the wolf is not able to adapt to the encroachment of human populations. They continue to be the victims of myth and misunderstanding. If the wolf, like the wilderness, is not "listened to," protected and preserved, we will have thrown away a precious gift. Inroads have been made for the preservation of the wolf but the efforts need to be ongoing.
