About the Art: According to Cheyenne legend, the birth of the almost unheard-of white buffalo is a significant sign. To these Native Americans, white symbolizes the essence of life as well as the rarity understanding the true essence of life. The white birth was the Great Spirit telling the Cheyenne that all things will be renewed and remade. The buffalo has survived, both as a symbol of nature and as a living animal. This is the result of strength, fortitude and perseverence. They still have the gift of life and give us hope for the future.
