About the Artist: Itzchak Tarkay (1935-2012)
Itzchak Tarkay, born in 1935, survived the Mathausen concentration camp at age nine. In 1949, he immigrated to Israel and received a scholarship to the Bezalel Art Academy in 1951. Tarkay became a leading figurative artist, drawing inspiration from French Impressionism.
