About the Art

Originally drawn and rendered in-house by DC Comics, "Gotham's Dynamic Duo" is created in the style used for the first season of Warner Bros.' Batman animated series. This series inspired an entirely new style of animation called "Dark Deco," where backgrounds were painted on black paper, giving Gotham a new persona and darkness that melded with Batman's character. This was the first Batman series to focus heavily on character personalities, making it as much character-based as action-based. Robin in this series was Dick Grayson, redesigned to appear hipper and more adult-like. This Robin is not to be confused with the Robin in "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" and "Teen Titans," who was Tim Drake, and much younger. Each "Gotham's Dynamic Duo" has been hand-numbered and signed by Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, and Paul Dini.
