About the Art: The wide spectrum of art created by Miguel Paredes is a result of the tapestry of experiences confronted by him throughout his life. That tapestry has provided to Miguel the myriad of images that have become infused with the masterful rendering of light and form that characterize his work. Born in Spain, the son of a importer/exporter of bulls between Spain and Mexico, Miguel's early memories as a child are rich with exotic images of people and places. These excursions would provide the young Miguel with material for his earliest sketches. Miguel's passion for the study of the human form began when at the age of eight he became intrigued by a drawing, done by his brother, of an Indian carrying a rock in his hands. That experience prompted him to pursue the art of portraiture and with a set of oil paints given to him by his mother, Miguel began his successful art career at the age of twelve by placing first in a school art show. It was there that he sold his first portrait. After making the United States his permanent home in the mid seventies, Miguel established a reputation for an extraordinary treatment of form and light. Painting from his second story studio overlooking the sea, Miguel has responded to the constant demand for his skill and talent. And Miguel paints a wide range of subjects. From the timeless moments in children's lives to the quintessential female nude, Miguel finds in all of them classic beauty. Those who have come to love and collect the art of Miguel Paredes are as varied as the art he creates. In addition to the many individuals throughout the world, patrons have included Melodyland, who commissioned a mural of the city Jeruselum; and Armstrongs, a porcelain company that features Miguel's work on many of its plates. His works are currently being published by U.S. Fine Arts, Ltd. in Huntington Beach, California.
